Latest News

This year's Festival location

Apparently there are rumours going around that due to the refurbishment of Shire Hall there will not be a Festival this year. We would like to dispel these rumours once and for all by announcing that (a) there will be a Festival and (b) that it will take place in the lower car park and surrounding areas opposite the Gatehouse pub.

Further details wiil be posted here soon.

This year's programme

The entertainment programme is complete and will be available here on or before Friday May 16th.

Battle of the Bands

A chance to win three days recording at Monnow Valley Studios and play on the main stage at this year's Festival. Click here for more details.

Venues

Our indoor venue this year will be the function room at the Vine Tree in Monnow Street and will host music ranging from folk with John Shaw and Alan Kirkpatrick, to jazz with Swing Gitane via the amazing guitar playing of John Crampton.

Those who prefer their music in a classical vein can enjoy the beautiful Naiades Ensemble - a flute, harp and viola trio, along with a Welsh Male Voice Choir and Monmouth's own Jo Collins, all in the beautiful setting of St. Mary's Church.

Meanwhile, the main stage will have a huge variety of music - from the reggae of Natty Wailer, country with the Lovesick Cowboys and the 60s delights of the Cavern Beatles.  We always like to support prestigious local bands and up-and-coming stars of the future, like Cakehole Presley.  The week ends with the fantastic Animals.

The Festival encompasses other events too - like the Kymin Dash and the town Carnival and Fun Day which takes place on the Sunday (see links).

We would really like to make the Carnival procession bigger and better this year so if you would like to take part please get in touch.

Thanks to the support of our generous sponsors Monmouth Festival is able to offer great quality music and entertainment. The festival organisers would like to publicly thank all those organisations, venues and helpers who have supported the event. Without their input the festival simply would not happen.

But most all we would like to thank you for enjoying yourselves and so generously putting your money in the buckets!

We value your input on how you think we could improve the Festival. So if you have any comments, opinions, praise or criticism on this year's event please let us know by emailing feedback@monmouthfestival.co.uk.

See you in the Car Park!
