Now in its 27th year, the Monmouth Festival is one of the largest
free music festivals in the UK and attracts up to 50,000 people each
year. It is run by volunteers and is almost entirely funded by
sponsorship, advertising, fundraising events, and generous donations
by the public. So please dig deep this year and give all you can to
our bucket collectors while you are watching these great bands!
This

Sure to be a massive night will be Saturday 25th July when we
have The
Pigeon Detectives!
The Pigeon Detectives broke onto the UK music scene in 2006 with
their first top 40 hit 'I Found Out.' Influenced by the likes of the
Rolling Stones, The Shangri-Las, The Beatles and The Strokes the
band built up a strong fanbase resulting in their debut album 'Wait
For Me' going platinum selling 350,000 copies in the UK along the
way. The album featured the crowd favourites I'm Not Sorry and Take
Her Back.
In early 2008 the band shacked up at Monnow Valley Studios in
Monmouth to record their second album 'Emergency' with Blur producer
Stephen Street. The album spawned the hit single 'This Is An
Emergency' and helped the band's continued rise.
