Monmouth Festival Wins Marketing Awards

Adventa Marketing and Sustainable Festivals Award

Monmouth Festival recently won 3 gongs at the Adventa Awards 2009. We took 1st prize for best Pomotion Of Young People and Below The Line Marketing Campaign alongside a Highly Commended for our "green credentials".

The festival relies on a small army of volunteers each year to make the event happen, and our award for Best Promotion Of Young People recognises the invaluable contribution - from fundraising to stage raising - made by the next generation of participants. Year on year, we endeavour to make the festival as green as possible and our Highly Commended Award was thanks to our recycling and local sourcing policies. The marketing award was given for the innovative approach we took to our website. It was re-designed and optimised to appear at the top of the search engines by local company, MonmouthWeb.com, and thanks to their efforts our website ranked in the top three Google positions throughout 2009 for search terms including 'free music festivals' and 'free music festivals 2009', which helped to attract record crowds to the festival from around the country.

The 2009 Monmouth Festival Was a Great Success! Thanks to all the musicians, bands and artistes who performed!

The first Saturday of the festival attracted our largest crowd ever who flocked to see the Pigeon Detectives, Zoidberg and The AutoPilots. Despite the rain, we also had several thousand attending the Queen tribute act, Rhapsody - Is This The Real Queen? and 1970s disco band, Uncle Funk. Uncle Funk were one of the most popular bands we've ever had at the festival and played almost an hour-long encore of hits such as Dancing Queen, Carwash, and Le Freak. The final night of the festival saw rock stalwarts, The Hamsters, play a great set of blues-rock music including cover versions of Jimmy Hendrix and ZZ Top.

About Monmouth Festival

The Monmouth Music Festival is now in its 28th year and is one of the largest free music festivals in the UK. Whilst the Monmouth Festival Committee are extremely grateful to receive some funding through the Town Council and facilities supplied by the County Council, the majority of money needed to ensure the festival goes ahead comes from sponsorship, advertising, fundraising events and generous donations from the public. The festival organisers would like to publicly thank all those organisations, venues and helpers who have supported the event year on year. Without their input the festival simply would not happen.

Should you wish to advertise in this year's brochure or sponsor the festival, please contact Jo Hunt on 01600 712761 or info@monmouthfestival.co.uk.

But most all we would like to thank you, the public, for enjoying yourselves and so generously putting your money in the buckets! Even with the rain in most nights limiting the turnout, the festival covered its costs and managed to turn a small profit. This means we will be able to bring you an even better festival in 2010!
